Balonku Social Experiment
Fifty strangers hand over their wants one balloon at a time, until only what truly matters is left in their grip.
The Stills
The Film
Jenius stages an actual social experiment rather than a scripted spot: fifty participants from different walks of life, office workers, freelancers, newlyweds, parents, are each handed a cluster of balloons in a bare warehouse. A moderator reads out everyday wants, that coffee run, a new outfit, a solo trip, and for each one that applies, a participant lets a balloon go. The film just watches their faces as the bunch in their hands thins out, letting the shrinking cluster do the arguing instead of a voiceover.
The Craft
Shot documentary-style with handheld and long-lens coverage inside a stripped concrete hangar, the film trusts unscripted reactions over performance, close-ups on hands loosening grip, eyes tracking a balloon as it drifts into the rafters. The palette is deliberately plain, grey concrete and white light, so the fifty-odd balloons carry all the color and the emotional read stays legible in a single glance. Cutting is patient rather than propulsive, holding on faces long enough to register surprise at how fast the bunch disappears.
The Cast
The cast is the experiment's real participants, fifty everyday Indonesians spanning office and non-office workers, singles and parents, rather than actors or named talent, which keeps the reactions unscripted and the stakes feeling real.
